FO Profiles: WGTA

Today, we're incredibly excited to introduce and showcase an up-and-coming lifestyle fashion brand based in NYC. WGTA was founded on a platform that values creativity as a catalyst for positivity and, we think, really represents a way of life we can all aspire to.  Founded by Jonathan Graynor last August, WGTA will launch its first-ever collection next month, with a follow-up Fall/Winter collection expected in August 2012.  Jon graciously answered a few questions for us about WGTA, his vision for the brand and what you can expect in the future.

What is WGTA all about?
WGTA is lifestyle brand driven by the idea of spreading positivity through creative expression, specifically fashion. WGTA was launched with the intention of creating a brand that truly connected with, and inspired, its community.

Your preview collection launches next month, what can we expect from this first collection?
Our aesthetics are focused on basics as well as minimalist pattern and designs that speak loudly. The Preview Collection is a teaser sample of what’s to come from WGTA. For our Preview Collection, we’ve only manufactured a small run of sizes, and will be offering only two styles for men, two for women, and two unisex options. We didn’t want to utilize a pre-order system, but opted for a first shop, first serve basis.  After Preview Collection product offerings are sold out in our online store, we won’t be replenishing inventory until the launch of our Fall/Winter 2012 Collection, in August 2012.

Who is WGTA for?
We like to think of our audience as more of a community, and our community is built upon young artists, thinkers, designers and influential individuals who see fashion as a form of expression.  But really, who are we to say who should and should not wear our clothing?

What inspires your designs for WGTA?
Life. Art. Positivity. Music. Sights, sounds and styles of New York City. Definitely, street style photography is a great inspiration for us. We think fashion & design in general, should make you feel something. A good design will evoke some sort of emotion in you. That’s what we aim for with WGTA. “Clothes don’t make the man”, as they say, but we believe it can make your day.

Why is it important for up-and-coming brands to engage bloggers?
Fashion bloggers, fashion blogs, and street style photography are the lifelines of the fashion world these days. And it’s amazing. Everyday, creative individuals get to leave their stamp, no matter how large or small, in the world of fashion.  As an up-an-coming brand, we value the significance of fashion bloggers and jump at every opportunity to work with a great blog.  It’s social PR, and a brand can’t gain recognition if it doesn’t have PR. So, a big thank you to you guys for being the first blog to cover us.

What do you see in the future for WGTA?
We want to make an impact. We won’t be content with being your average run of the mill clothing line. We want to influence and be influenced. As far as product offerings, by the S/S 2013 Collection, we will be offering cut & sewn pieces. We want to incorporate more versatility into our future collections, by offering a larger range of tops as well as layering pieces, outerwear, and possibly accessories. Also, we have plans of doing some interesting video look books and some events down the road. It’s going to be a great journey. We’re all about social media, so check us out on Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, or Tumblr and be a part of our conversation.

We can't wait to see what's in store for WGTA.  Make sure you check them out on Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest and Tumblr, and keep visiting us for more exciting news and previews from WGTA!

Stay positive, stay free (a great WGTA-coined phrase),

Sam & Rebecca

p.s. A million thanks to Jon and the WGTA team for answering our questions!
