It's a summertime rite for all Canadian kids. A ritual, a tradition shared by families, a way of life. Going up to the cottage was my absolute favorite thing to do as a kid. To me, there is nothing like jumping into a cool lake (bathing suit optional) and enjoying the wild of "Up North," as us Ontarians call it. Those fortunate enough to have spent summers at a cottage have it in their blood. For me, I always feel as though I'm home Up North, like it's where I really belong. I've always said that the first property I own will be a cottage and I don't ever plan on breaking that promise to myself.
This weekend I'm heading up to the Lake George area of upstate New York and I am beyond excited to don comfy clothes, read the days away, (hopefully) test my wakeboarding skills and, of course, enjoy the beautiful water. Below are a few (although not all) of the essentials I'll be bringing along with me.
 |
A soft leather carry-all and a good book | Bag: Zara (old), Book: "Wilder Shores of Love" by Lesley Blanch |
 |
A clear clutch to tote essentials down to the dock and sunglasses | Clutch: RiteAid, Sunglasses: Ray Ban |
 |
A colourful and intricately patterned bathing suit | Suit: H&M (old) |
 |
A comfy pair of slip on shoes | Shoes: Soludos via Moda Operandi |
 |
Colourful bracelets | Skull bracelet: Vanities via Moda Operandi (similar here) |
Not pictured, but
very essential: sunscreen and bug spray. My pale skin and blood, which is like crack for mosquitoes, need a little protection.
Does anyone else have a love affair with the cottage?
x,
Sam
p.s. Sorry for the blurry photos! My camera wasn't cooperating when I took these. Womp.
