Then & Now Part II: Art Imitating Life

We all know how fashionable I was when I was younger thanks to the first Then & Now post showcasing my foray into animal print and safari-inspired get-ups.  A few moons before that gem of a photo was taken, and obviously before my life started to revolve around Little Orphan Annie (linked again for your visual and aural pleasure), I was known to sport a few very girly dresses.  And by "a few," I mean I wore them all the time.  Behold:

This photo represents a significant improvement from the last one, and for a number of reasons:

a) I am 99.9% happier, probably because
b) I am wearing a significantly more fashionable outfit, and
c) I am at my Grandparents' condominium in Florida, meaning I can finally get some colour on those arms and legs of mine (where does the dress end and my legs begin?).

This photo does not represent any change at all from the previous one because:

a) I am sporting the same sausage legs.

Moving on!  Once again, I am the epitome of high fashion even at the tender age of two.  Doesn't my dress look suspiciously similar to one seen on the Chanel S/S 2010 runway?

I'm onto you, Uncle Karl.  If you weren't the creative director of one of the most famous fashion houses in the history of life, I'd consider writing a strong-worded letter on the importance of intellectual property rights.  Kidding.  I love you.  Call me!

Get a load of this Sonia Rykiel ensemble from her S/S 2009 runway:

The hat, the oversized sunglasses; I just can't help myself.  I am setting trends left, right, and centre.

As the ever-popular poet, writer, and aesthete Oscar Wilde once wrote, "life imitates art..." I'm going to go out on a limb here and commit literary sacrilege by saying that no, it is art that imitates life.  As evidenced, of course, by my excellent fashion sense as a youngster and the subsequent proliferation of such aesthetic in the fashion industry today.

And with that, I leave you with another industry that has been shaped for the better by the above-pictured outfit: the television industry.

Yes, ladies and gentlemen, that is Six (and her hat) from Blossom.  You're welcome.

xo,
SM
