New York Fashion Week kicked off yesterday and while we are not attending the shows ourselves (we are Fashion Outsiders, after all), we thought we'd give you daily recaps of our favourite looks from some of our favourite or stand-out designers. So, without further ado..
Geometric abstraction was cited as the main focus at BCBG Max Azria, with loose -looking silhouettes and colour-blocking in earthy shades, with a few pops of bright colours throughout. The collection was very frock-forward with light, sheer fabric to create a romantic touch to an otherwise sporty vibe, and the wide-leg trousers and fur accents waxed nostalgic for nineteen seventies America. We're putting the multi-toned trench (below) on our wish lists for fall!
Juan Carlos Obando showed us that bright colours and neons are (thankfully) here to stay with beautifully bright gowns and lively accents (we love the mint green skirt/jacket look below). While the brights packed punch, the majority of his collection paid homage to "motocross daredevils" through darker, edgy pieces (that we also think would look great on the set of Sons of Anarchy).
Chadwick Bell's collection was inspired by the theme "a perfect woman in an imperfect situation." Bell created interesting, structured looks in an array of colours and fabrics and added leather trim and fur accents to round out the pieces. If only we could pull off bedhead hair , throw on some Bell and still look as fabulous...
